The Life Skills Development Foundation

The Life Skills Development Foundation (TLSDF) is a registered Thai non-profit and non-governmental organization that aims to improve the quality of life for vulnerable children and their families in northern Thailand. TLSDF was founded in 1998 as part of the Save the Children USA’s transition strategy when it closed down its operational presence in Thailand. Our mission is to secure the rights of vulnerable and disadvantaged children to survival, protection, development, and participation in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Through capacity-building and sustainable programming, we ensure that community members (parents, schoolteachers, local government officials, etc.) continue to monitor and support children in remote areas of upper Northern Thailand long after TLSDF terminates its work, creating a lasting impact. We work to advocate for child protection and children's rights on both domestic and international levels, primarily based on the UNCRC and UN Sustainable Development Goals. We employ community-based collaborative frameworks between governmental and non-governmental organizations with a focus on indigenous and ethnic minority populations situated in areas affected by high HIV prevalence rates, serious poverty, and issues of statelessness among other challenges.
