Together to #ENDviolence

One billion children.

That's how many girls and boys suffer from violence every year.

Together to #ENDviolence, a global campaign and Solutions Summit Series, is here to change that.

Violence is an epidemic of abuse that undermines all other investments made in children, with devastating long-term consequences. Despite the scale and impact of violence against children – and the proven evidence-based solutions that exist – we still lack the political commitments and financial investments that are urgently needed to keep children safe at home, online, at school and within communities. And without the proper investment, the effects of violence against children will continue to cost up to 5% of the world's GDP.

On top of that, COVID-19 has increased children’s risk of violence in every country and community. As a result of the pandemic, 85 million more girls and boys may be exposed to physical, sexual and emotional violence. COVID-19 has also placed new pressures on both national budgets and international donors, jeopardising already-limited investments to end violence against children, along with years of progress. Without urgent, unified action, we could lose a generation of children to the lifelong effects of violence.

Together to #ENDviolence is inspiring the end violence community and catalysing the political and financial commitments needed to end violence against children for good. As we enter the Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals, this global campaign will accelerate action as the world builds back safer for children – during COVID-19 and beyond.

Together, we are a powerful partnership of over 750 organisations. Together, we are a part of the solution. Will you join us?

AFFILIATE EVENTS & INITIATIVES

As part of Together to #ENDviolence, partners and national coalitions are leading affiliated events to amplify our impact. These events will provide a drumbeat of national and thematic events, calling for commitments and encouraging leaders to respond to the urgent challenge of violence against children. They aim to build momentum, showcase solutions, spark policy dialogue, and more.

We encourage all our partners — no matter their size — to join the movement by hosting an affiliate event or co-branding an existing event or initiative as part of Together to #ENDviolence. Branded affiliate events and outcomes will be promoted across the world – spreading your reach and influence amongst governments, donors, United Nations agencies, civil society organisations, and children themselves. These events will inform both the campaign and our collective movement.

Below, you can find a Do-It-Yourself Toolkit to get you started, which contains resources, information and sample materials to create an affiliate event. You can explore the affiliated events that are already happening by clicking the links below.

NOMINATE AN END VIOLENCE CHAMPION

Across the world, countless individuals are working around the clock to end violence against children, including children themselves. These inspiring people are the heart and soul of our movement, often working on the frontlines with limited resources.

As part of the Together to #ENDviolence global campaign, we are celebrating these individuals and the change they are helping to create. Through Q&A-style interviews, you will learn from practitioners, activists, researchers, policymakers and children about their successes, their challenges, and what they think is needed to end violence for good.

INSPIRING WAYS TO END VIOLENCE:
a podcast series

Is it actually possible to end violence against children?

In a series from the End Violence Partnership, we explore the answer to that question by talking to those on the frontlines – the experts, researchers and world leaders that have dedicated their lives to keeping children safe.

INSPIRING Ways to End Violence Against Children will take you from Honduras, where two children are murdered every day, to South Africa, where in some districts, up to 99 per cent of children have experienced or witnessed abuse. By featuring the experts working on these challenges, this series will spread knowledge of what works to prevent violence – and ensure solving this problem remains a top priority for governments, communities and organisations across the world.

Join our host, Dr Catherine M Maternowska, as she speaks with these experts and illuminates what works to end violence against children. This podcast is part of the Together for #EndViolence global campaign and Solution Summit series.

THE LAUNCH EVENT

On 15 December, over 1,900 individuals registered for the launch of Together to #ENDviolence, a global campaign and Solutions Summit Series to catalyse the political and financial commitments needed to end violence against children for good. The event gathered participants from 130 countries across the world. With over 20 inspiring speakers, a diverse set of presentations, discussions, and an array of multimedia, the event provided a launching pad for partners around the globe, marking the beginning of a multi-year effort in the Decade of Action.

“The Together to #ENDviolence Solutions Summit Series that we’re launching today unites us all — across continents and sectors — behind a single shared vision of a world where every child grows up safe and secure,” said Henrietta H. Fore, the Executive Director of UNICEF, at the event. "Safe at home. Safe online. Safe to learn. And safe in their communities. The Summit Series is an opportunity for us to work together and turn this shared vision into a reality.”
