People's Cultural Centre (PECUC)

People’s Cultural Centre (PECUC) is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society organization working for promotion and protection of rights of the children in the State of Odisha and India since 1990. PECUC directly works with the community, advocates for pro-poor and pro-child policies. PECUC is devoted for promotion of rights of the children guided by the framework of United Nation Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), 1989.

PECUC is focused on ending violence against children with a focus on:

  • The eradication of child labour; to date, the organisation has rescued and rehabilitated more than 35,000 child labourers
  • School safety
  • Ending child marriage
  • Combating child trafficking
  • Ending child sexual abuse
  • Campaigning for the right to safe and quality education.

PECUC is one of the pioneer organizations to promote child participation and promote children’s collectives. They are taking up regular activities for the realisation of survival, development, protection and participation rights of children.
