Global Welfare Association (GLOWA)

GLOWA is a survivor serving, children/youth-focused not-for-profit organization in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since 2013. Its guiding principles are the promotion of opportunities for children and youths to develop their full potentials. GLOWA is committed to the goal of significantly reducing the rate of child abuse in Cameroon through education and training.

GLOWA believes that the human rights and governance problem in Cameroon derive from the prevalence of childhood abuse, which socializes individuals to abuse others and disregard public values. GLOWA, therefore, seeks to ensure that present-day-children grow up in abuse sensitive environments as a way of preparing them to be future human rights defenders. This is implemented through grounded community education initiatives which motivate and engages children and survivors as claim holders and frontline advocates for human rights.

While we seek to address the conditions that make abuse of human rights possible, we have a considerable focus on providing rehabilitation services to victims and survivors of child trafficking, rape, forced child marriages, domestic violence and other forms of abuses and exploitation. We build alliances with stakeholders particularly victims, people affected by abuses, government departments, religious and traditional authorities etc. Victims and other people affected by any form of abuse have proven to be very motivated actors in the fight against child abuses.
