In Dakar, End Violence Presents INSPIRE to West and Central African Countries

End Violence, UNICEF and the Child Protection Area of Responsibility held a training on 27-30 March titled Child Protection Coordination in Humanitarian Settings in Dakar. It was attended by government officials and UNICEF staff from 15 francophone countries from West and Central Africa and Burundi and Madagascar.

End Violence introduced its activities and the INSPIRE strategies. The presentation included practical examples of implementation of INSPIRE in humanitarian situations and preventive measures for child labour and early marriage.

Participants appraised the use of INSPIRE strategies - which encourage coordination with the different sectors, ministries, institutions and civil society – as a results-driven, practical and encouraging toolkit to tackle complex issues. INSPIRE offers guidance for well-coordinated actions to eradicate violence against children. Some participants expressed interest in engaging their respective governments and looking into the possibility of joining End Violence as pathfinders. They also emphasised the need for more resources and information in French.
