Senegal: Workshop on Child Protection in Emergency Coordination with 7 Governments

On 19-20 December, UNICEF West and Central Africa Regional Office (WCARO), in partnership with the Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CPAoR) and End Violence, organized a workshop with seven francophone countries aimed at strengthening the role of Governments in coordinating the child protection humanitarian response. Participants included Government and UNICEF staff from the following countries: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo and Guinea.

The workshop is a continuation of the workshop organized in Abidjan last year. Reaffirming the importance of Government leadership, topics discussed ranged from child protection systems and coordination, to End Violence and pathfinding countries. A similar workshop will be organized in 2017 with 10 new countries from within and outside the region as well as a contextualized training on Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) Coordination.
